The Smartkey is a unique key-tag

It is an essential component in the operation of both the KeyWatcher and the KeyBank key management systems. It is the vital part that completely differentiates KeyWatcher and KeyBank from any other key management cabinet or system on the market.

It offers the administrators and users of the KeyWatcher key management system with greater programming flexibility, minimal setup time and minimum or nil cost for system changes and key changes. It assists Keywatcher and Keybank in monitoring use of keys by recording user name, time and date, key number and name and key removal and returns.

Its patented 'passive' operation (non-powered) provides the convenience for securely attaching (tool-free) almost any size key or several keys directly to the SmartKey. The SmartKey is inserted into the KeyWatcher cabinet and physically retained by and electronic solenoid bolt. Because the SmartKey is embedded with an IC chip it can be returned to any spare location within the KeyWatcher cabinet. It is immediately tracked and recorded by the system to identify the returned key by name and number and its exact location within the cabinet. The user's name and the time and date of the key return are also recorded and memorised.

Alternatively, The SmartKeys can be used in conjunction with the range of tamper proof and tamper evidentt serialised key-rings or with our low cost tamper evident Padlock Seals, where key turnover and key changes are required on regular basis. (Example, car dealerships, motor pools and vehicle fleets)

Padlock Seals too are identified with unique serial numbers and require no tools to lock them or attach keys to the SmartKey tags. They are made from high tensile spring wire that provides a tamper evident seal to securere keys and require wire cutters or pliers to break them. Once broken the padlock seal is permanently damaged preventing re-sealing and visually evident of opening or tampering

Tamper-proof Key ring with coloured serialised Hub. Key rings come in variety of sizes. They prevent keys being illegally removed from ring and are evident if seal is broken or tampered with.

Coloured serialised hubs can help distinguish special key sets, buildings, vehicles etc one from another. Tamper proof Key rings and Hubs are replaceable so the original key ring can be used again and again. There are three types of SmartKeys available with KeyWatcher and KeyBank.

Standard SmartKeys

The standard tag supplied with most KeyWatcher applications where medium to high security of keys is desired. It enables keys to be attached directly to the tag using the stainless steel shackle provided with each tag. Optional tamper proof key-rings and padlock seals can be used to enable larger key bunches to be attached or for minimising cost when frequent key changes are necessary. When keys are attached directly to the tag it requires cutting the steel shackle to remove, add or change keys. This procedure can be carried out for up to a maximum of three times. After which the tag then needs to be replaced with a new tag. New tags are automatically enrolled into the system to assume the identity of the previous tag thus eliminating any need for administrators to reprogram the tag for existing users and key database settings. If a SmartKey is lost, damaged or stolen it can be instantly deleted from the database and simultaneously replaced with a new SmartKey. If the former key is returned the KeyWatcher system will immediately flag the 'deleted' tag and create an audible and visual alarm at the key cabinet and host PC.

Quick-Fit SmartKeys quick, fit, smart, keys, how, to use
quick, fit, key, seals, security, in useThe Quick-Fit SmartKey is identical in every respect to the standard SmartKey with the exception that it uses a high tensile spring wire shackle instead of a heavy-duty steel shackle. The advantage of this tag is that the wire shackle can be easily cut and quickly replaced with a new wire shackle over and over again for the life of the Quick-Fit SmartKey.

It is recommended for applications where changing keys is a regular occurrence, such as car pools, car and boat dealerships and vehicle fleets. If your facility requires higher security for certain keys and the convenience for quickly replacing other keys such as vehicle keys on a regular basis then your KeyWatcher or KeyBank system can be supplied with a combination of the standard SmartKeys and the Quick-Fit SmartKeys tamper, proof, keyrings, key, seals, example, display

QUICK-FIT SMARTKEYS
can be cut using wire cutters or pliers to enable easy, but tamper evident removal of keys. They are ideally suited in applications where keys are broken or turned over on a frequent basis or for new and used vehicles are car pools. New replaceable wire seals are inexpensive, available in bags of 50 and require NO TOOLS to replace the new keys onto the original Quick-Fit Smartkey.

Secure-a-Key SmartKey. The Secure-a-Key SmartKeys are used for very high security applications where it is desirable for the key to be physically inaccessible from being removed from the SmartKey tag or shackle. Although initial access to any keys in the KeyWatcher requires an authorised user 'log-in' the Secure-a-Key provides the extra assurance that keys are not exposed or threatened by overt tampering. Keys are attached to the Secure-a-Key tag by a rivet method that allows the key to pivot into an enclosure within the SmartKey. When the SmartKey is inserted into a key housing the key and tag are both fully enclosed. Only one key per each location is possible when using the Secure-a-Key SmartKey tags. However, if certain keys in your facility, such as the Grand Master Key, requires the higher level security of Secure-a-Key then you can configure your KeyWatcher system with a combination of Secure-a-Key, Quick-Fit and or standard SmartKeys.
